An analgesic combination, Ultracet is helpful in controlling
pain and the attacks of pain associated with osteoarthritis.
The prescription is used to treat or prevent pain for
a short period of time (5 days or less). A combination
of two drugs, Ultracet contains both Ultram and acetaminophen.
(It is recommended for short-term use only.)

Taken on an empty stomach or with food Ultracet should be. IF YOU
MISS A DOSE OF Ultracet and you are taking it regularly, take it as
soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip
the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT
TAKE TWO DOSES AT ONCE. If your symptoms do not improve or become
worse, check with your doctor.
The possible side effects associated with taking Ultracet include
drowsiness, dizziness, and constipation. Notify your doctor if you
experience any of the following medical conditions: a skin rash, itching,
confusion, changes in mood or behavior, hallucinations, dark urine
or pale stools, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or unusual tiredness.
Promptly call your physician if you have any of the following symptoms
seizures, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of face
or mouth.
Do not take Ultracet if you are allergic to codeine, hydrocodone,
dihydrocodeine, oxycodone (such as Tylox, Tylenol with Codeine,
Vicodin). Additionally, a severe allergic reaction includes a severe
rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness. Difficulty breathing,
tightness of chest, swelling of eyelids, face, or lips, or if you
develop a rash or hives are adverse effects that require your doctor’s
notification, immediately. Do not take any more doses of Ultracet
unless your physician tells you to do so. Never exceed the recommended
dose or take longer than prescribed. Never consume alcohol or other
products while using Ultracet. Usingother products containing acetaminophen
(check labels closely) while you are taking Ultracet is not recommended.
Before any medical treatments, notify your doctor that you are using
Ultracet. The adverse reactions of withdrawal of Ultracet include
the following conditions: nervousness, sweating, nausea, diarrhea,
tremor, trouble sleeping. Consult your doctor. If you are a woman
who is pregnant, planning pregnancy or nursing, contact your physician
before using Ultracet.
Notify your physician of all prescription and over-the-counter medicines
and any medical conditions you may have including allergies, pregnancy,
or breast-feeding. It is not recommended that you take Ultracet
if you are taking carbamazepine, cyclobenzaprine, an amphetamine,
opiate analgesic, tricyclic antidepressant, serotonin reuptake inhibitor
(SSRI), monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), promethazine, or medicine
for appetite suppression, sleep, or a nervous, mood, or behavior
condition. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITIONS may
be needed if you are taking isoniazid, guanidine, or an oral anticoagulant.
Ultracet is not recommended for patients with liver disease or high
levels of alcohol, depressants, stimulants, or other analgesics
in your blood.
If an overdose of Ultracet is suspected, contact your local poison
control center or emergency room immediately. The adverse events
potentially include nausea, vomiting, sweating, unusual drowsiness,
slowed breathing, seizures, stomach pain, dark urine, deep sleep
or loss of consciousness, coma and death.
Store Ultracet at room temperature in a tightly-closed container away
from light, heat moisture and out of the reach of children. |
