For the treatment of discomfort associated with acute, painful muscle or bone conditions, Skelaxin is used with rest and physical therapy.

Use Skelaxin as directed by your physician. Dosages will probably
need to be adjusted by your physician to achieve the best results
because they will vary according to your age and condition. Follow
directions exactly. Skelaxin may be taken with food or right after
meals to prevent stomach upset. (Do not increase doses, take more
frequently or take Skelaxin for a longer period of time than prescribed
by your physician
The adverse effects associated with the use of Skelaxin include the
following medical conditions: vomiting, rash with or without itching,
upset stomach, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nervousness, irritability,
tiredness. Consult your physician if you develop: severe- allergic
reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest;
swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chills; yellowing of
the skin or eyes.
Before taking Skelaxin, notify your physician if you have if you are
pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are
taking any prescription Skelaxin, nonprescription Skelaxin, herbal
preparation, or dietary supplement, if you have liver damage, if you
have any other medical condition. Use caution when driving or operating
machinery or when alertness is required. Caution is advised when Skelaxin
is used in the elderly. Avoid drinking alcohol and taking Skelaxin
because it cans cause drowsiness (eg, sleeping pills, antihistamines)
while taking Skelaxin. Patients with previous medical conditions should
talk with their health care provider before taking Skelaxin. Do not
stop taking Skelaxin without checking with your health care provider.
Never take more Skelaxin than prescribed unless advised to do so by
your health care provider.
Do not take Skelaxin if you are allergic to any ingredient in Skelaxin.
Additionally, if you tend to be anemic due to other conditions, have
severe kidney or have liver dysfunction do not use Skelaxin. If overdose
is suspected, contact your urgency care center promptly. The symptoms
of Skelaxin overdose may include trouble breathing or unconsciousness.
Your physician may monitor liver tests during treatment. Do not share
Skelaxin with others.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered. If it is near the
time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Resume your usual Skelaxin
dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Store Skelaxin at room temperature from light and moisture. Keep out
of reach of children.
