Notify your physician of all prescription and nonprescription medications that you are using. If you are taking the any of the following: a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) during the last 2 weeks. Serious, and sometimes fatal, reactions have occurred when these medicines have been used together. Also, do not take Sarafem if you are taking thioridazine (Mellaril). Dangerous, even fatal irregular heartbeats may occur if these medicines are taken together. You must wait 5 weeks after stopping Sarafem before taking thioridazine (Mellaril).

Special Notifications

If overdose is suspected, contact your urgency care center promptly. The symptoms of Sarafem overdose may include nausea, vomiting, tremor, agitation, seizures, drowsiness, hyperactivity, and enlarged pupils. Your physician may monitor liver tests during treatment. Do not share Sarafem with others whom it is not diagnosed.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it when you realize it. If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to catch up.

Storage
