By
reducing and diminishing fine lines, Renova improves the appearance
of wrinkly skin. Renova is the brand name of tretinoin topical.
Aside from reducing wrinkles, it is also used for mottled skin
discoloration and to make rough facial skin feel smoother and
younger. It works by lightening the skin, replacing older skin
with newer skin, and by slowing down the way the body eliminates
damaged skin cells from sunray exposure. Renova works best with
a skin care program that includes protecting the treated skin
from the sun. |
Fine wrinkles from overexposure of the sun
Dark spots/Discolored skin
Rough-hard skin caused by sun
Clinical research demonstrates that Renova cream is most likely
to give skin a glow when it is used with a moisturizer. Tested derivatives
like Renova, and a variety of other fruit acids help skin look supple
while alleviating dryness.
For topical application only.
Adults 50 years of age and younger should apply to the affected
area(s) of the skin once a day, at bedtime.
Adults 50+ years of age should call their physician to determine
the recommended dosage.
This medicine should be used as an ongoing skin treatment to avoid
further damage to your skin from the sun. The treatment includes
avoiding direct sun exposure when possible or wearing proper attire
like a hat to protect your skin from sunlight.
Regular use of oil-based creams or lotions helps to reduce skin
irritation or dryness caused by the use of Renova.
Avoid using the other skin products on the same area as Renova.
Using other skin products along with Renova may cause mild to
severe irritation of the skin. Usually Renova is applied at night
so that it does not cause a problem with other topical products
that you might use during the day.
For the first 6 months of use, avoid overexposing the treated
areas to sunlight, wind, or cold weather. The skin will be prone
to sunburn, dryness, or irritation, especially during the first
2 or 3 weeks.
If you miss a dose of this medicine, skip the missed dose and
go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Store away from heat and direct light. The gel product is flammable
and should be kept away from fire or excessive heat.
A few other side effects may occur that usually do not need medical
attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your
body adjusts to the medication; however, check with your doctor
if any of the following side effects continue: mild burning feeling,
stinging, tingling of skin, chapping, slight peeling of skin, redness
of skin, unusual dryness of skin, and unusually warm skin.
Notify your physician if you are using Renova with other medications
to insure that there is not an adverse interaction. Make sure you
tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems: dermatitis,
seborrheic, eczema, sunburn-use of this medicine may cause or increase
the irritation associated with these problems.
Consult your physician if you have ever had any unusual or allergic
reactions to acitretin, etretinate, isotretinoin, tretinoin, or
vitamin A preparations. Also tell your health care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives,
or dyes.
Renova has not been studied in pregnant women. It is not recommended
during pregnancy. The topical treatment has been shown to cause
delayed bone development in some animal fetuses. Before using this
medicine, make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or if
you may become pregnant
It is not determined whether Renova passes into the breast milk.
Mothers who use this medicine and who wish to breast-feed should
confirm this with their doctors.
