Used as an appetite suppressant in conjunction with an
overall diet plan Phendimetrazine is prescribed to reduce
weight. Similar to an amphetamine, Phendimetrazine is
a sympathomimetic amine. Phendimetrazine is known as an
"anorectic" or "anorexigenic" medication.
It stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain),
by increasing the heart rate and blood pressure and reducingthe
appetite. For short-term use in the treatment of obesity,
Phendimetrazine is recommended by physicians.

Follow the instructions of your physician regarding the use of Phendimetrazine.
It is best taken on an empty stomach one hour prior to meals. Sustained-release
or long acting products must be swallowed whole. Never crush or chew
the medication because it will destroy the long action and may cause
increased side effects. Phendimetrazine can potentially cause sleeplessness--
avoid taking a dose late in the day. Never take it more often or longer
than directed. It is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks. Using Phendimetrazine
in combination with other appetite suppressant medicines is not recommended.
Consult your physician before such use.
The first few days and as your body adjusts to Phendimetrazine, the
following adverse effects may include the following: blurred vision,
dizziness, dry mouth, sleeplessness, irritability, stomach upset or
constipation. If the side effects continue inform your physician.
Notify your doctor if you experience any of the following chest pain,
nervousness, pounding heart, difficulty urinating, mood changes, breathing
difficulties or swelling while taking Phendimetrazine. If you experience
dizziness or lightheaded, avoid driving or engaging in activities
that require concentration and alertness.
Report your complete medical history to your doctor. Specifically,
if you have a medical history of high blood pressure, an over-active
thyroid, glaucoma, diabetes or emotional problems. Consult with
your physician if you think you are pregnant or before breast-feeding.
Phendimetrazine can be addictive or habit forming. I should be used
with caution. Alcohol consumption can increase unwanted adverse
effects of dizziness. Limit alcohol use. Phendimetrazine is not
recommended for use in children. Notify your physician or pharmacist
for further information.
Notify your physician about all medications prescribed and non-prescribed
that you use. Specifically tell your doctor of any Phendimetrazines
you use, any of the following high blood pressure medicine or MAO
inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine)
or any other weight loss medicine. Avoid "stimulant" drugs
that may increase your heart rate such as decongestants or caffeine
An appetite suppressant is not a substitute for proper diet and
exercise. For maximized results, Phendimetrazine must be used in
conjunction with a diet and exercise program.
Never use Phendimetrazine to treat other health conditions not prescribed
by your doctor. Do not share Phendimetrazine with others for whom
it was not prescribed.
If a dose of Phendimetrazine is missed, do not double the next dose.
Skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule.
Store Phendimetrazine at room temperature away from heat, sunlight,
moisture and out of the reach of children. |
