A combination of 2 acne medications, BenzaClin is a single
gel combination of clindamycin 1% and benzoyl peroxide
5%. Both Benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin are have antibacterial
properties used to treat acne. Clindamycin is a topical
antibiotic, effective against bacteria that can contribute
to the development of the inflamed red pimples seen in
acne.

Apply all doses of BenzaClin gently on the washed and affected areas.
Then, rinse the areas with tepid water, and pat dry. Daily two times
a day, apply a small amount of BenzaClin to the affected areas of
the skin (in the morning and evening; or as directed by your doctor.)
Rub BenzaClin into the skin using your fingertips or an applicator.
Always wash hands after each use. Avoid getting BenzaClin in the
eyes, inside the mouth or nose (it can cause irritation). If BenzaClin
comes in contact with hair or colored fabric/clothing it may bleach
or cause discoloration—keep away from each other.
The potential adverse effects associated with the use of BenzaClin.
They include the following the skin and may include dry skin, reaction
at the site of application, itching, peeling, redness, and sunburn.
Clindamycin can possibly cause diarrhea. If severe diarrhea is experienced,
stop using BenzaClin and consult your physician immediately.
BenzaClin is not recommended if you have a history of the following
medical conditions: certain inflammatory diseases of the intestine/bowel
(e.g., enteritis, ulcerative colitis, antibiotic associated colitis).
Consult your physician of your medical history, including: any allergies
(especially to certain antibiotics such as clindamycin). BenzaClin
should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss
the risks and benefits with your doctor about using Benzaclin during
pregnancy or nursing. (It is not recommended.)
Your doctor should be Informed of all prescriptions and non-prescriptions
medication you may use. Make sure you tell your physician of other
topical acne products or other antibiotics that you are using. Never
start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
You should not use BenzaClin if you are allergic to clindamycin,
benzoyl peroxide, or the antibiotic cllindamycin, or if you have
a history of colitis
BenzaClin should be stored at room temperature away from heat, light
and moisture. Keep BenzaClin out of reach of children in a dry climate.
