Allegra D an antihistamine works against the naturally
occurring chemical histamine in the body. Allegra D
prevents sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes,
and other allergic symptoms. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant.
It constricts (shrinks) blood vessels (veins and arteries).
By decreasing blood flow, it decreases congestion. Allegra
D is used to relieve symptoms of allergic conditions

Use Allegra-D on an empty stomach, 1- 2 hours before or after food.
Do not take more of Allegra D than is directed by your doctor. If
your symptoms are not being adequately treated, talk to your physician.
The side effects associated with Allegra D include any of the following
medical conditions: nausea, stomach upset, menstrual cramps, fatigue,
or cold symptoms. If the effects become severe, inform your doctor,
consult your physician immediately if any of the highly unlikely but
extreme side effects occur: dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat.
Although drowsiness is uncommon at usual doses under normal circumstances,
be aware that this medication may have such an effect before engaging
in activities requiring alertness.
If Allegra D is used with other medications could result in serious,
even fatal, drug interactions. Never take with a monoamine oxidase
inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil),
or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days, a heart medication
such as digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), reserpine (Serpasil), or methyldopa
(Aldomet) caffeine, amphetamines, decongestants, or diet pills. Notify
your physician if you have the following medical conditions: asthma
or another lung disease, diabetes, thyroid problems, glaucoma or increased
pressure in the eye, urinary retention or an enlarged prostate, kidney
or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, or an irregular
heartbeat. If you have any of the conditions listed above, Allegra
D may potentially not be for you or it may require a dosage adjustment
or special monitoring during treatment.
Notify your physician about your medical history, specifically if
your have the following medical conditions: kidney disease, heart
disease, any allergies. Try not to take Allegra D close to a dose
of an antacid that contains aluminum or magnesium such as Rolaids,
Maalox, Mylanta, Milk of Magnesia, Pepcid Complete, and others. (The
antacids can possibly diminishthe effects of Allegra D.) While driving,
operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities, Allegra
D may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid the activities.
If an overdose is suspected, contact your urgent care unit immediately.
The symptoms of overdose may include: irregular heartbeat, fainting,
severe dizziness or lightheadedness. Never share Allegra D with others
who it is not prescribed. Laboratory medical tests should be performed
to monitor your progress.
If you miss a dose, take Allegra D as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume the usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Store Allegra D away from light and moisture. Keep away from children.
